Dodge Challenger Headlight Replacement

One part of this car that needs replacement after certain periods is the headlight bulb. The following will help guide one on how to change a headlight bulb on a Challenger.

First, open both hoods and support them with the struts.

Next, locate the back of the headlight and remove any screws that might be on it. Be careful not to break these screws since they cannot be reattached once removed. After this has been completed, remove any rubber coverings and turn the lights off and disconnect them. If there was plastic covering, then carefully pry it off and put it away for later use if needed; otherwise discard appropriately. This is where a second person comes in handy because you will need someone to hold up the headlight while you work on removing any wiring attached to it as well as using a screwdriver to loosen bolt connecting wires behind bulb inside of headlight (if present). If one does not have assistance, then put a rag or something sturdy under the headlight to lift it, but be extremely careful while doing this.

After everything has been disconnected, locate and remove screws from old bulb and discard accordingly. Before you replace with new bulb, use a paper towel or cloth to clean off any dirt that might have built up on headlight casing. It is best to get a new bulb from dealer if possible because these kinds of bulbs are made specifically for each car model. If this is not an option then get the light out of another Challenger or similar car since they should be compatible with your vehicle’s headlights. Once the old headlight has been removed carefully place in the new headlight, making sure it lines up properly before tightening down all screws. Then, replace any wires or screws as necessary and plug headlights back in if not already done so. Finally, close hoods and test lights to check that they both work before closing the subject on your new knowledge about how to change headlight bulb on a Dodge Challenger.
