Are you an off-roader?  If your answer is ‘yes,’ then you have chosen the right car. The Ford Explorer offers a wide range of potent engines under the hood.

What more, its all-wheel drive. You can see it’s the robust and reliable vehicle that you need both in season and out of season.  Bad weather condition may never be a threat to you.

But you need to take a lot of care to assured you won’t get stuck anywhere in the woods with a bad headlight. Without properly working light bulbs, your adventures are likely to turn into a nightmare.

Since light bulbs wear out over time, do due diligence to protect you from such shocks. The best thing is to replace your Explorer headlight bulbs in pairs. This way, both sides of your car will have balanced lighting. That’ll increase your vehicle’s visibility at all times.

Also, when you are exploring distant lands, take a pair of the approved light bulbs with you. You can opt for the long-lasting LED bulbs as well as the LED conversion kits.

Note that you have other options. If you have access to an HID headlight kit or Xenon headlight kit, take with you. Any of these advanced kits will come in handy when you need to upgrade your SUV’S lighting system.

Be more vigilant if your car is using halogen bulbs, which get dim over time. If one fog light has burn-out, replace the two corresponding bulbs at ago.

If you want to replace your headlight or parking light bulb, ensure you find the correct Ford Explorer headlight bulb size. Established firms stock a wide variety of bulb sizes and headlight bulb types.

And, for that matter, whether all you want is replace your headlight lamp with a high intensity discharge headlight kit or any other or upgrade your lighting bulbs with LED bulbs, you must work with the dealer who can help you with your unique bulb size needs.

    Aftermarket light bulbs

The Ford Explorer is the best selling SUV in the United States, and owning one means you’re part of a large club. Many owners seem to like their Explorers so much that they never want to get rid of them!

The problem with this is that Ford has not made this vehicle for past 14 years. You can still buy new Explorers, but it will be another 4-5 years before Ford stops producing this model (if they stop production in 2015).

Owning an older Ford Explorer also makes it likely you’ll need to replace its headlights every once in a while, since some components tend to fail on aging cars.

With the advanced affordable aftermarket headlights available, nothing can stop you from improving your Ford Explorer lights. They provide reliability and durability and also give you the best experience whenever you are driving.

When you want either a low beam bulb or not a high beam, a reputable auto dealer will provide what you actually order for. Make your buying decisions based on credible information.

And, learn to install as many headlight options as possible. The great news is that whenever you choose components with the right specs, you make the rest of the work easy.

Don’t forget your socket size determines your headlight bulb type.

Replacing headlight bulbs on the Ford Explorer is not difficult at all, even if you are a novice car owner, but it’s best to be prepared. Here are some tips that will help you save time and get your Ford looking like new again in no time.

    Ford Explorer Bulb Replacement

    1. Get the right replacement bulbs

One thing you don’t want to do is guess what size the headlight bulb is on your Explorer, because this can lead to problems down the road.

You can easily find out what size your headlight bulb is by locating its part number inside the engine compartment (you might need someone else to read it for you).

Once you know which type of bulb(s) your car needs, visit an auto parts store or shop online and purchase them there.

    2. Open up the hood

The next thing you need to do is open your Explorer’s hood. To protect the car from dirt and other harmful elements, it might be a good idea to put down an old towel or tarpaulin on the driver side of your Ford.

Now find the headlight assembly (it’s under the hood) and remove all bolts around it with a wrench or ratchet (there are usually 3-4 bolts). The entire assembly will now lift out easily, but only if you turn it counterclockwise first.

    3. Unplug the bulb connection

Once you’ve done this, then it’s time to unplug the connection that goes between your new headlight bulb and its socket by pressing in on two plastic tabs located on either side of the plug.

Pull on the plug itself to remove it from your Ford’s headlight housing carefully, making sure not to touch anything inside the housing with bare hands.

    4. Install the new bulbs

Now that you have a clear view of all parts in your headlight assembly, installing a new bulb is easy.

Find a place where you can rest your assembly while working on it and line up its tabs with holes in your car’s front bumper brackets before pressing its plastic locks into place when everything is lined up properly.

Replace all bolts around the assembly and close up your car’s hood before testing out the new headlights!
