Your Hyundai Sonata is not only fuel efficient and spacious but also luxurious and accelerates perfectly well.

The Hyundai Sonata has long been known to be a strong performer in the market. Recently, however, the headlight bulbs have been drawing some criticism from owners of this vehicle.

This is because these bulbs are not designed to last as long as many would expect them to–in fact, they burn out quite often. There are two types of replacement parts for this car: genuine and generic.

Since most people would prefer to save their money, generic alternatives are almost always preferred over genuine ones. With that said, let’s discuss why these lights burn out so quickly and how you can protect against this happening to you.

When the Hyundai Sonata drives on roads with lots of potholes or bumpy roads, one of the things that may happen is for the headlight bulb to become loosened in its socket. You might recognize this problem because then when you try to start your car, the headlights will not turn on.

The way you can fix this is simple: all you have to do is tighten up the bolts that hold the light bulb in place. This will ensure that it stays secure and cannot fall out again later on down the road.

First, it’s important to understand why the bulb should be replaced in the first place. Many people think that because the light still turns on when they flip their car’s switch, everything must be working properly.

This is not true, however – the fact that the light comes on doesn’t mean anything by itself. The bulbs can burn out for a variety of reasons, one of which may be because water has gotten into the socket where it plugs in.

If too much moisture accumulates in this area, then chances are high that your bulb will fail soon after having been exposed to this corrosive liquid.

Both the genuine and generic parts are made with sealed construction – this means none of your car’s internal components can ever come into contact with fluids of any kind.

If your Sonata has halogen lamps, replace them with their better-performing counterparts. You can get the high-performing headlights from a wide variety of sources, including Amazon.

Excessive moisture accumulation in your vehicle’s headlight area can significantly increase the likelihood of bulb failure, particularly if the bulb is exposed to this corrosive liquid.

To combat this issue, both genuine and aftermarket (generic) parts are designed with sealed construction.

This design ensures that no internal components of your car come into contact with any fluids, thereby protecting the integrity and functionality of the headlights.

If you want to replace the lighting system of the vehicle, ensure you find out what the Hyundai Sonata headlight bulb size you need.  Also, rely on a credible source of information to learn where you can get the best parts.

If you do this, whether you intend to replace your headlight with HID headlight kit or Xenon headlight kit, you are safe if you follow these simple rules. The same applies if you replace your interior lightings with LED bulbs.

This Hyundai Sonata headlight bulb replacement guide is for general information only. And since the actual headlight bulb type or socket size may vary, if you need, feel free to consult your vehicle owner’s manual or local car dealerships for further guidance.

The most common reason for a Sonata headlight bulb to burn out is that the filament within it has become corroded or otherwise damaged by age.

When this happens, you have to buy a new bulb immediately because allowing this problem to go untreated can potentially do damage to other parts of your car as well. This particular type of failure usually takes months to occur—it isn’t an overnight ordeal– which means you’ll likely discover the issue before it becomes too serious.

The only reason genuine parts are better than generic ones is because they’re guaranteed not to fail for at least one year after the date of purchase.

According to Hyundai’s warranty policy, if your vehicle comes with OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts then they will be covered by a 12-month, unlimited mileage warranty.

Even if your Sonata breaks down on the side of the road and this is discovered to be a problem with a particular part or accessory, you won’t have to pay for any repairs.

The only exception to all of this is that Hyundai does not cover labor costs incurred as the result of their faulty parts.

Sonata owners who want to save money can still achieve peace of mind by using generic parts instead.

Although these components do not come with such extensive protection plans, there’s usually very little chance that they will stop working less than two years after installation—and most people would expect car items like headlight bulbs to last at least twice as long as this before failing.

If you buy a set of lamps from a reputable supplier, you have about a 98 percent chance of having your vehicle back on the road within two hours after taking it to the mechanic.

This doesn’t mean that these types of parts are inherently better than their OEM counterparts; they’re just cheaper and don’t usually fail for at least 4-5 years.

As long as you keep this in mind when making a purchase, you won’t go wrong with either choice. If you want to make sure your Sonata’s headlights never burn out again, then simply take good care of them and inspect them on a weekly basis.

This is recommended because most headlight bulbs–both genuine and generic–tend to last around six years before starting to fail.

You can lengthen their lifespan even further by ensuring that they’re always clean and free from debris.

    Aftermarket Headlights

There may be nothing as important to you as your ability to see the road precisely when driving.  Only perfectly functioning bulbs can ensure you have the desired vision. For example, when the weather is foggy, you need fog light for you and other raid users to stay safe. This means you have no reason to keep using imperfect headlight bulbs.

The good news for you is that you can find lots of high-performing headlights near you. Established businesses, such as Lumen, EVO Lighting, PIAA, and Sylvania provide quality HID, LED, and Halogen bulbs across the word.

Choose LED bulbs if you are looking for the most energy efficient remedy.  You can also consider Halogens if you don’t care about the risk of dimming lights.

    Installation

This Hyundai Sonata headlight bulb replacement guide was explicitly crafted to help owners of the sixth generation. However, owners of other Hyundai cars also find these easy-to-follow instructions helpful.

Sonata is quickly replacing the turn signal, high beam, low beam light bulbs as the market values the significant advancement it represents.

You are fortunate given that you don’t need any device to replace either the high beam or low beam headlight bulbs. Nonetheless, you may require a small Phillips head screwdriver to be able to access the parking or turn signal light bulb.

    1. Remove the power connector
    • Turn the black plastic dust cap ¼ turn counterclockwise
    • Pull out the black plastic power connector connected with the yellow wires

    2. Release the low beam bulb

    • Press on the metal arm
    • Swing the metal arm downwards
    • Pull the low beam bulb from the socket

    3. Replace the old low beam bulb

    • Carefully swing the metal retaining arm up (Ensure it’s above the lamp)
    • Insert the bulb into place at the top

    4. Securely replace the black cap

    • Push the black plastic power connector to the metal prongs
    • Reinsert the dust cap
    • Rotate it ¼ turn clockwise

    5. Release the high beam bulb

    • Turn to the headlight assembly, behind it
    • Rotate the black plastic dust cap ¼ turn counterclockwise

    6. Open metal arm

    • Pull out the black plastic power connector
    • Pull out the metal retaining arm
    • Swing the retaining arm towards the driver’s side

    7. Remove old high beam bulb

    • Pull the bulb straight out

    8. Insert the new high beam bulb

    • Install it with the power prongs aligned horizontally
    • Swing the retaining arm over
    • Hook the metal into place

    9. Replace the dust cover

    • Push the power plug onto the new bulbs’ rear
