The most common types of headlights in use today are halogen lights. However, there are three main ways that these bulbs function. The two major kinds are high-intensity discharge (HID) and light-emitting diode (LED). The third kind that may be found on older cars is the tungsten filament type which has now been mostly phased out in favor of brighter LED lights.

The Ford F150 headlight bulb has one or more filaments that are then put into a chamber. This means that when the car is turned on, electricity flows through the filament and it becomes very hot; this heats up the chamber and causes an illuminated light to be emitted.

The brightness of these lights varies based on the power of the electrical system but typically goes from 40-60 watts for halogen bulbs and up to 200 watts for HIDs. These days LED lights typically produce somewhere between 1-5 watts depending on their housing and size (just like other types).

Since lighting systems can vary greatly because of different types of cars and aftermarket upgrades, it’s important to make sure that any replacement parts will fit before buying them.

The headlight assembly is one of the most common parts that are replaced, often because they get damaged or dried out with age. We will recommend the best fit for your 2018-2020 Ford F150, including headlights, fog lights, and more! You can choose from a single replacement or opt to buy an entire pack of bulbs.

The headlight assembly is frequently among the most replaced parts in a vehicle, especially as they are prone to damage or wear over time.

For owners of the 2018-2020 Ford F150, finding the right fit for replacements is crucial, whether it’s for headlights, fog lights, or other lighting components. When selecting new lights, you have the flexibility to either purchase a single replacement bulb or opt for a complete pack, allowing you to address all your lighting needs at once.

This choice not only ensures consistency in lighting quality across your vehicle but also provides an opportunity for an overall upgrade. It’s important to select bulbs that are specifically designed for the make and model of your vehicle, ensuring seamless compatibility and optimal performance.

By choosing the right products, you can enhance both the functionality and the aesthetic appeal of your Ford F150, ensuring that it remains a safe and stylish presence on the road.

    Ford F-150 Bulb Replacement

The headlight bulb in a Ford F150 is just like any other vehicle’s. It runs off of the battery and works with the headlamps it is placed inside. The headlights themselves use a bulb that gives out light when turned on. Ford F-150 headlights are of a halogen bulb design which means over time the headlamp will dim.

This is not only annoying but can make driving dangerous. Replacing your F-150 headlight bulbs regularly will keep you safe and keep you from being blinded by other drivers on the road. Like any bulb in your home, sometimes they can break and need to be replaced.

Whenever you need to replace your old headlight, parking light, or turning signal, know your Ford F-150 headlight bulb size and Ford F-150 headlight bulb type. If you want to replace your headlamp with an HID kit, Xenon headlamp kit or simply your interior lightings with LED lamps or SMD bulbs, you need to rely on credible information on these elements. This way, you’ll save a lot of your time and money.

Why should you replace your car’s important lights as quickly as possible? You likely know the interior of your car has illuminated switches, warning lights, indicators, dash lights, and much more. All for your own benefit.

These lights will guide your way as you ride, help you to see all the important switches in darkness, give you vital information on the status of different systems of your car.

You need a low beam during foggy weather. So, you may not always have a safe ride if you lack fog light.  A high beam can also help you to focus far much ahead. If any of your important lights fail, your life may be in great danger.

There’s a wide selection of factory replacement interior light bulbs in the market. You can also get HID headlight kit and Xenon headlight kit that will upgrade your lighting.

    Aftermarket F150 Headlights

You have lots of upgrade alternatives. But the F-150 LED replacement lights are much better than their other rivals in the market. For sure, they are known to be long-lasting and much brighter. As such, these exceptional bulbs will enable you to see more clearly after the sun sets, particularly, if you combine them with modernly styled headlights.

    Installation

You may be asking yourself when to replace your own headlight bulbs. It’s important to know that for sure.

When your bulb has blown out, you have to replace it. No alternative.  If you use halogen bulbs, you may have to replace them when they have dimmed. Unlike the LED lamps and HID lightings that are only serviced when the source of light has failed, these options will produce much less light as they age.

You will also be required to replace your lightings when your headlight circuit fails. In these instances, your choice of socket size, your system components, and your terminal connections could be the underlying problem.

How can you professionally replace your headlight bulbs?

    1. Raise the hood to access your halogen bulbs and sealed beams
    2. For HID and LED systems, follow the repair procedures in the relevant factory service manual
    3. Inspect wiring and bulb sockets (Ensure electrical connections are safe and complete)
    4. Turn on the newly installed bulbs

The Ford F-150 headlight bulb replacement process is simple but requires your undivided attention. If you are not 100% certain of your competence, get the services of your mechanic. Here are things you need to keep in mind when doing this important work.

    • Test if there’s power

If your bulb doesn’t have a visible filament that you can inspect, your mechanic test to find out if there’s power to the bulb. Remember, this process only applies to you if your car has either LED or HID lighting.

    • Ensure there’re equal illumination levels

Halogen lamps and sealed beams are the most affected here. Replace them in pairs to ensure both sides of your car have equal light intensity at all times.

    • Restore Plastic lenses

These particular lenses degrade over time.  If these features are causing you problems, replace them.

    • Ensure Efficiency of all components of the headlight circuit

The condition of all the components, including your Ford F-150 headlight size, ground connection, bulb sockets, and fuses determine the reliability of your headlights.

      • No, it will not fit. You should use H6054 bulb for sealed beam headlights or 9007 lamp for halogen headlights. These bulbs fit both low and high beams.

      • For F-150 with halogen and LED headlights, you need 9005 bulb for high beam and h11 for low beam. 9140LED bulb will do for the front fog lights.

      • Speaking of factory headlights of 2011 Ford E-150, they can be either sealed beam (H6054) or halogen (H13). So surely you can install halogen bulbs on your truck.

      • You are guessing quite right, H13 is a single bulb used for both high and low beam halogen headlights.
If you want to upgrade to Xenon (HID), you have to switch to D3S (also for both beams).
