Required Tools for the Subaru Impreza Headlight Assembly Replacement:
- 10mm socket
- Trim pad remover
- Phillip screwdriver
- Ratchet
- New headlight assembly
- Flat tip screwdriver
Steps to 2006 Subaru Impreza Headlight Assembly Replacement
- Wear gloves and glasses.
- Make sure the engine is off and cool.
- If the engine is hot, then wait for it to cool down.
- First of all, open the hood.
- Lift the car’s front side and remove 7 plastic pop clips that hold the bottom of the bumper fixed with the vehicle.
- There is a hidden clip beneath the splash guard. Pull the guard aside and remove the clip.
- Now move to the fender wall and remove the plastic pop clip present there. Do this on both sides.
- Inside the hood, right on top of the grill, sits 6 plastic pop clips. Remove all of these clips.
- There are some small plastic clips on the grill at points where the grill is connected to the bumper. Remove these clips and pull the grill aside.
- Underneath the grill is the last hidden pop clip/connector. Remove this clip and pull the bumper out.
- Towards the outer side of the headlight, remove 1 10mm bolts and towards the inner side of the headlight, remove 2 10mm bolts and 2 10mm nuts. After that, remove the plastic clip and 10mm bolt at the top of the headlight.
- At the backside of the headlight, you will see a plastic headlight retainer. Undo this retainer.
- Unplug the headlight harness and remove the headlight assembly.
- Remove the bracket from the stock headlight and transfer it to the new headlight.
- Connect the headlight harness to the new headlight and place the headlight in the stock position.
Place all the components back safely in the reverse order they were removed. Congratulations! Your job is done.
