Dodge Ram 2500 Headlight Kit Replacement Process:

To replace the headlight housing or the bulbs inside, you will have to remove the grill first. This guide applies to Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 with minor differences here and there, but we will be discussing the 2018 Ram 2500 Headlight assembly upgrade procedure here.

This might be your first time replacing the headlight, but there is no need to get nervous because the process is very simple. Just follow these steps.

  • Pop the hood and prop it up.
  • You will see a big plastic radiator cover held in place with many speed (pop) clips. Patiently remove all the clips because it will take some time.
  • Under the cover, you will find four 10mm bolts. Go ahead and remove these 4 bolts. Removing these bolts will make the grill lose, and you will be able to remove it.
  • Carefully pull the grill out and remove it. There are also some pop clips at the lower side of the grill, so you might have to put some force when pulling it out. Do this step very carefully and make sure not to break the tab.
  • After taking the grill out, you will see two 10mm bolts at the top and side of the headlight bracket. But there is another hidden clip holding the headlight. To reach this clip, check the wheel well; you will find a small access partition there. After opening that partition put your hand inside and unclip the headlight from inside. You will hear a pop sound after releasing the lever. Now remove both the bolts as well.
  • You will find that the headlight is fairly free. Pull it gently out to remove it.
  • Release the harness connected to the headlight.
  • Now you can upgrade your old halogen bulb with an LED bulb by removing the back cover.
  • Replacing the bulb housing (assembly) is even easier. After removing the old lens, mount the new assembly after connecting the harness.

After locking everything back you will be good to go.
