Upgrading from factory bulbs to aftermarket LED/HID

  4. Easier to install.

How to choose the correct bulb size of the LED/HID lamp

The easiest way is to use our Kia Sportage light bulb replacement chart by specifying the year of manufacture and trim. Other more time-consuming tricks are the following:

  • Consult the Kia Sportage manual

Your vehicle’s manual provides important details that help when replacing car parts. For headlight bulbs, it indicates the correct bulb sizes and measurements needed. Check your manual to determine the right bulb size for your LED/HID lamps.

  • Reach out to your car manufacturer

You can call your car manufacturer or dealer to help you find out the right bulb size for your car. Most manufacturers and dealers normally have this information already. All you need to do is provide them with your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

  • Check your original bulbs

Your factory bulbs have their bulb part/size number indicated on them. If you want to replace them, it’s important to look for this size number as it shows the size of the bulb you need to buy.

Installing new bulbs

  1. Open the hood of your car and locate the bulb from the back of the headlight assembly.
  2. Unplug the power connectors and remove the old bulb.
  3. Install the new bulb and reconnect the power connectors.
  4. Test your headlights.

Additional equipment

  1. New light bulbs
  2. Alcohol tissues and wipes to clean the new bulb.
  3. A screwdriver

    • Typically, new Kia Sportage models (2017-2019) are equipped with LED Daytime Running lights so you may need to replace the whole set.

Some Kia Sportage trims though use P21/5W bulb for Halogen DRL (that’s what the manual says)
