Step by Step Guide for 2011 Ford Ranger Headlight Assembly Replacement:
In this guide, we will show you how to remove or replace the headlight assembly in the Ford Ranger. By following these steps, you can also access the headlight bulb and turn signals.
Required Tools for Ford Ranger headlight Kit Replacement:
For this upgrade, you will need a few very basic tools
- New headlight assembly
- 5.5mm socket
- Socket extension
- Ratchet
The Process of Headlight Assembly Replacement
Start by lifting and propping the hood.
Move to the headlight you want to replace,
Above the headlight, you can see 3 5.5mm bolts holding the headlight firmly. Remove these bolts.
Remove the plastic cover from the top of the headlight. Under the cover at the backside, there are two metal tabs, one on the right and one on the left side. Pull the right tab upward but do not lock it by moving it all the way up; instead, let it sit at the floating-point. Now do the same for the left metal tab.
Try to pull the headlight out. If it does not come out easily, wiggle the metal tabs a bit.
At the back of the assembly, there are sockets for turn signals and headlights (low beam and high beam). Twist these sockets counterclockwise and take the bulbs out. If you want to replace any bulb, you can remove the old one and install the new one quickly.
If you want to replace the headlight assembly, install the sockets in the new assembly and mount it back by lining up the sockets into the openings. After lining the headlight, lock the tabs to fix it in place and reinstall the plastic cover.
