Selecting the appropriate bulb size for the Ford Edge is crucial for maintaining its functionality and aesthetic appeal. The Ford Edge, known for its stylish design and robust performance, requires specific bulb sizes for different lighting components, including headlights, tail lights, fog lights, and interior cabin lights.

It’s essential for Ford Edge owners to refer to a detailed bulb size chart, which should provide the exact specifications for each lighting part. This is particularly important for ensuring that any replacements or upgrades not only fit perfectly but also comply with the vehicle’s design and safety standards.

A comprehensive bulb size guide for the Ford Edge would greatly aid in simplifying the process of selecting the right bulbs, whether for routine maintenance or for enhancing the vehicle’s lighting system.

Furthermore, when considering upgrades, Ford Edge owners have the opportunity to choose from a variety of bulb types, such as LED, Halogen, or HID. Each type offers distinct benefits in terms of brightness, energy efficiency, and longevity.

LEDs, for instance, are known for their long life and low energy consumption, while HIDs offer intense illumination, and Halogens provide a traditional warm light. It’s important to ensure that these upgrades are compatible with the Ford Edge’s electrical system and lighting design.

A detailed bulb size chart for the Ford Edge not only helps in selecting the right size but also guides owners in choosing the best type of bulb to suit their needs and preferences, enhancing both the vehicle’s performance and visual appeal.

Ford Edge is a mid-size crossover SUV that was manufactured by Ford and sold in the US and Canada. It is a Compact luxury SUV with seating for up to five passengers and it is available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.

When it was first introduced, it offered six trims: SEL, Limited, Sport, Titanium, FX2/FX4 Off-Road, and Platinum.

The 2007 Edge came standard with 17 or 18 inch alloy wheels depending on the trim level while the other variants are equipped with chrome alloy wheels all around.

During its production run from 2006 to 2012 (in North America), the Ford Edge has been outfitted with different automotive lighting products such as headlights, tail light assemblies etc. One of these lights is the headlight bulb.

The Ford Edge has H7 Halogen headlights. For the 2010 model year, the Limited trim was discontinued and replaced by the Sport trim which offers Super White LED lights as standard equipment for its headlamps.

The SEL, Sport, Titanium ,and Platinum are of two types: HID low beam & halogen high beam or HID xenon gas with halogen high beams (SVT Raptor Off-Road). Both types were equipped with projector housing headlamps with dual halo rings.

The 2007 to 2009 models came standard with 17 inch 5 spoke alloy wheels while other trims come with 18 inch chrome alloy wheels; they also have a clear lens on the tail lamp assemblies except for some fender flares which are painted to match the body color.

The 2010 to 2012 models came standard with 18 inch 5 spoke chrome alloy wheels for SEL/Sport while the Titanium and Platinum have 19 inch 10 spoke polished forged aluminum alloy wheels.

They also have a clear lens on the tail lamp assemblies except for some fender flares which are painted to match the body color.

    Headlight Bulb Replacement

When upgrading or replacing headlight bulbs, it is necessary that you choose the correct type of HID light bulb so as not to damage your vehicle’s electrical system or other internal components.

This guide provides information on how to replace your Ford Edge’s headlight bulb easily, safely, and correctly.

It includes step-by-step instructions on how to get access to your headlights, change the headlight bulb type, and replace a faulty headlight bulb in your Ford Edge.

    Steps

    • Park your car on a level surface and turn off the engine to avoid electrical shock when working near an electrical component.
    • Open up the hood of your car. Be careful not to touch any hot components under the hood as you may get burned from them. You can use a creeper or a towel so that you can slide under the hood safely with minimal damage to clothing or skin
    • Locate and open up all fasteners for the under-hood covering so as to have easy access to work with. If there are clamps involved, remove those as well before lifting open the hood.
    • Once you open up your Ford Edge’s hood, be careful not to touch the under-hood components that are hot because these can be very dangerous.

You can use a creeper or towel in order to slide under the car comfortably while avoiding any accidents with hot components.

    • Locate and identify the connection for your headlight bulb; this is typically located on either side of you Ford Edge’s engine compartment – closer towards the back of your vehicle (towards its rear).

You will need to know which one is positive (+) and which one is negative (-) so that when you have replaced your old headlight bulb with a new one, it won’t burn out after powering up your headlights again.

    • Locate the bulb retention clips on the headlight assembly; these may or may not be present depending on your Ford Edge’s model year.

If they are not there, you will need to remove them in order for new headlight bulbs to fit properly; some models have clips that can be pushed out using a flat-head screwdriver, while others require disconnecting the electrical connection before removing the retaining clip.

    • Once you locate and access your Ford Edge’s headlight bulb, turn off its power supply by disconnecting it from the vehicle’s battery first.

Then, pull out your old headlight bulb carefully without breaking it or shattering any glass parts of it. You can identify if your car requires HID light bulbs because one of its parts will be blue and the other one either green, brown, or black.

    • Insert your new headlight bulb carefully so as not to damage it or touch any part of it with your bare hands; always use gloves when inserting a new headlight bulb.

If you see any dirt on the glass of your Ford Edge’s old headlight bulbs, wash them off using water and soap before rubbing dry and putting them back in the box for later storage because they can deteriorate quickly if left dirty.

Newer model Ford Edge vehicles may require HID light bulbs that are specifically made for that particular year range because they come standard with projector housing headlights.

These projector housing headlights contain two separate high/low beam reflectors which produce two separate light beams from only one headlight bulb.

This enables them to give off a more consistent light pattern with less glare.

HID light bulbs are also available for vehicles that still have the standard halogen headlights, but check with your vehicle’s manufacturer first before installing a HID kit because some cars can’t use different types of headlight bulbs without breaking down.

Make sure that you put your new headlight bulb in right, and then start up your car again to see if it works or not. Remember to turn on its high/low beams when doing this so as not to blind other drivers around you.

If everything is working fine, you can re-close up your Ford Edge’s hood and continue using your vehicle normally until the next time you need to replace your headlight bulbs or something else.

    Generations

Ford introduced the Edge for the 2007 model year and redesigned it completely in 2009. This second-generation Edge was built using a unibody frame, which Ford calls “semi-truck tough” (which sounds like an oxymoron to me).

For 2011, there has been no significant changes made, only some minor equipment updates such as standard electronic stability control and heated side mirrors.

The car is now offered with the EcoBoost turbocharged four cylinder engine and optional all-wheel drive, both firsts for a mainstream mid-size SUV.

The 2011 Ford Edge starts at $27,745 including destination charges and availability is limited until early next year.

The first generation of the Edge appeared as a concept car on August 10, 2003 at the Greater L.A. Auto Show, and in production form at the 2005 North American International Auto Show and released for sale in January 2006 as a 2007 model year vehicle.

The second generation was launched in 2009 for the 2010 model year, with sales beginning in November 2009.

It is built on Ford’s D3 platform and has three engine options: a standard Duratec V6, an optional turbocharged four cylinder Ecoboost engine (first ever mid-size SUV to offer such), and an available V8 engine that debuted with the redesigned 2014 F-150 pickup truck.

    More on Ford Edge

The Ford Edge is available with five different wheel sizes. If you want to find out your Ford Edge wheel size, you came to the right place. The wheel size should be at least on one of your tire’s sidewall. The first number is the width in inches, followed by diameter in inches and an R for rim or an L for load.

1 thought on “Ford Edge Bulb Size”

    1. Hello. That’s a great bulb listing on the 2008 Edge however like countless other sites I’ve looked at including Ford dealers you too do NOT include the small bulb that illuminates the transmissions gear selector on the console. The bulb has no markings whatsoever and I’ve even used a magnifying glass but I promise it does exist. I’ve seen it and even held it in my hand!!!! Any suggestions?

      Thanks
