What Are The Most Common Type Of Headlights?

There are three main types of headlights: LED, HID or ‘xenon’, and halogen. We’re going to take you through the features of all three, so you have all the information you need to make the best decision for your car.

Halogen

These are the traditional lights that most cars come with. They’re reasonably cheap and affordable, but they do have some drawbacks when it comes to safety. Halogens give off a yellow light which means you can’t see as far down the road, and your night vision will be affected. The filament in halogen lights does not last very long either; most halogens need to be replaced after around 200-500 hours of use (or around one year), and they’re nowhere near as bright as Xenon or LED headlights. If you drive regularly in dark conditions and want to be able to see further down the road, we recommend switching to Xenons or LEDs for better results at night. Otherwise, halogens will do just fine.

Xenon

These lights are much brighter than halogen bulbs, they emit a whiter light that is closer to daylight and also provide better contrast between different surfaces on the road, such as the white lines down the middle of many roads. They’re excellent if you want a high quality look for your car or if you spend a lot of time driving at night – but they won’t come cheap! Xenons use gas inside them which means that they need to be replaced less often than halogens (around every four years), although it’s still very important to have them checked regularly by a qualified mechanic. If you’re looking for safety over style then xenons are the way to go – for a small cost.

LED

Led headlights are becoming increasingly popular as the technology advances and they become more affordable. They’re extremely good at lighting up the road ahead, much better than halogens or even xenons, and because of that they’re an ideal option if you want to be able to see well when driving through dark areas such as rural roads or unlit towns. They’re also very long lasting, often needing replacement just once every ten years (unlike halogen bulbs) and their energy-efficiency means that your car’s battery will charge faster than usual when you leave led headlights on overnight. Although there is the initial cost of purchasing them to think about, we can’t recommend led headlights enough – they really are the future of car lighting.

So, those are the three main types of headlights that you might come across. Halogens are a good, affordable option if you don’t mind sacrificing some brightness and seeing distance when driving at night; xenons are brighter and provide better contrast but come with a higher price tag; and LEDs are excellent for lighting up the road ahead and last much longer than other types of headlights. Whichever type you choose, make sure to have them checked by a professional every now and then to ensure they’re in good condition. Happy driving!

Bulb replacement

Hey guys here today showing you how to replace a headlight bulb on a 2006 Cadillac SRX I believe this is the same for 2004 whenever this body stop started I think 2004 through job through 2010 I believe unfortunately the Cadillacs as is with most German cars you have to actually take the bumper off in order to remove the headlight so that you can replace the headlight bulb I know it sounds really ridiculous before you used to be able to just reach your hand in here and take the bulbs out but as you can see my hand is not gonna fit in there and that’s not the way it’s supposed to be done there are people on YouTube that show you ways to take this light out without removing the bumper but you risk damaging things so it’s the proper way it is to take off the bumper and taking off the bumper really isn’t all that difficult there are just multiple little plastic rivets like these as you can see here…
