Reasons for replacing the bulbs on a BMW X3
Unlike some of the lower-class vehicles, the X3 may come with a few LED bulbs from the factory, but not all of them. To ensure consistency, you can upgrade the halogen or HID bulbs with LED. Also, as mentioned previously, bulbs do not last forever, and at a certain point in time, a bulb may stop working, which means that you will need to replace it, especially if it is a light on the exterior of the vehicle.
What are the good sides of LED bulbs for the BMW X3?
Once you replace the halogen or HID bulbs from your X3 with LEDs, you can be sure that they will be working for a long time. That is one of their advantage, longevity. Depending on the type of LED bulbs you get, you may end up with bulbs rated for up to 50 thousand working hours.
The second good side of using LED bulbs is how much power they consume. On average, an LED headlight bulb may consume about five times less power than HID and ten times less than halogen. The power consumption is more noticeable with the hybrid models where the LED lights would not drain the battery as much as the others, so you may get a few MPGs more.
Replacing a headlight bulb on a BMW X3
The process of replacing the bulb is quick and easy, but it would work in your favor if you have smaller hands.
Before you begin, make sure that the power cables are disconnected from the battery. On the back of the headlight assembly, there is a plastic cover with a clip, so you will need to open it with a flat screwdriver. With the cover removed, put your hand in the opening and pull the bulb with the cable and make the replacement.
If you are replacing the bulb on the passenger side, you will need to remove the washer tank before you can access the back of the headlight.
Which bulbs on the X3 can I replace with LED?
All of them, if you want. There are LED kits that include all bulbs that can be fitted to your vehicle so that you can replace all of them.
Will the headlights be brighter when I replace them with LEDs?
Yes. LEDs are generally brighter than halogen and HID. Before you buy them, make sure to check the laws in case there is a limit on how bright your headlights can be.
